Tourist Guide Training: The T-GuIDE Project

The Access Training E-Learning Platform currently offers the T-GuIDE e-learning Course, with the following functionalities:

e-Learning Modules – Currently with 6 core modules aiming to introduce e-learners to tourist guiding practices and customer service skills related to guiding persons with intellectual disabilities and/or learning difficulties
e-Learning Sessions – Over 20 knowledge and scenario based sessions covering business development tips, good practices, videos and reference sources. Modules takes from 3 to 23 minutes to complete (approximately).
e-Quizzes – Instructional quizzes with feedback that will test the user’s understanding of the knowledge based sessions.

NOTE: Print your Quiz Results
After completing the course quizzes you may print your quiz results to a printer or to a PDF file, using the following procedure:
> Go to the "My Statistics” section (Tab at top of this page).
> Select "T-Guide e-Learning modules"
> Click T-Guide Module quiz [number]
> At the bottom of the page which shows your answers, click on the button “Print your quiz results”. Either print to your printer or select Print to PDF and save the file to your computer.
REPEAT for each module quiz you have completed by selecting the module number.

You can also print ANY PAGE by clicking on the printer icon at the top, right-hand corner of the page you are viewing. After selecting the printer, choose "PDF> Save as PDF" if you wish to save the page to a PDF file on your computer.

About the T-Guide Course

This online couse was developed as part of the T-GuIDE "Lifelong Learning" vocational training project, co-financed by the European Union.

The T-GuIDE e-learning course serves to demonstrate the competences that tourist guides need to learn to serve these target groups, and offers tools and methods for improving their skills and conducting tours in a socially responsible and inclusive way.

Course content

e-Learning Modules – Six core modules introduce e-learners to the subject of Accessible Tourism and tourist guiding for visitors with intellectual disabilities and/or learning difficulties.
e-Learning Sessions – Over twenty knowledge and scenario-based sessions cover facts, tips, good practices, videos and reference sources. Each session takes from 3 to 23 minutes to complete.
e-Quizzes – Instructional quizzes with feedback that will test the user’s understanding of the knowledge gained from the e-learning sessions.

The e-learning platform and course content is designed to be accessible to persons with disabilities (WAI-WCAG 2.0 level A). Please note that some external content such as videos may not be accessible to persons with visual or hearing impairments.

Taking the Course

The T-GuIDE Course is delivered on-line in a series of five Modules. You can follow each module separately, when you have the time. There is no limit to how many times you can follow the modules and you can take as long as you like over each one. Times shown in parentheses are just an indication of how long it takes to complete each module.

Welcome to the T-Guide Training Course

A training course developed from collated and new materials by the partners of the T-GuIDE project.

This course provides an introduction to the knowledge, comptences and skills which can help tourist guides offer guided tours to visitors with intellectual disabilities or learning difficulties.

Register in two steps

Step 1. You must register with the ETCAATS Training Platform (Create an Account) in order to take the course. Registration is free of charge.

When you have registered with ETCAATS Training Platform, you should login using your email address and password. Then click the T-Guide Course tab.
(You must be logged in to view the page).

Step 2. On the T-Guide Course page you will see a green button: Register for this course. Click the button.
Your course registration will be activated automatically and you can begin the T-Guide Course Modules.

What will you learn?

The course is not intended to be exhaustive but provides a "taster", explaining visitors' needs and how to prepare and manage a tour. There is also advice about keeping a log of your experiences to document your professional development.

The course includes short quizzes to test your knowledge. After taking the course, if you are a professional tourist guide you may apply for the face-to-face training course offered by FEG - the Federation of European Tourist Guides' Associations and ENAT.
